Week 15 - Final Spring Class

Today is the last day of the Spring semester!

Today ...
1) Kevin will point out a few mistakes remaining in restaurant blog posts.
2) We will answer some questions about each other's Restaurant Reviews
3) Tell us your probably blog topic for the fall semester (but you can change your mind in September when we start blogging; after that you cannot change your mind).
4) We will play a Quizizz game.

1) Keep thinking about your fall blog theme.
2) Begin making a list of possible blog post topics; you'll need 5!
3) Take notes for some ideas for your blog posts.
4) Think about your blog title, URL and design because you will not use the practice blog for your fall blog topic.
5) Read some books!

Week 14 - Restaurant Review Presentations

Restaurant review presentations July 19

Br ready to present loudly. We will be wearing masks, so it's always difficult to hear.

You should not read your paper! (but you can have it with you). Your blog will appear on the screen behind you.

• Try to have a conversational style; don't just read. 
• You need intonation and emphasis on important points.
• Check the pronunciation of words in advance

Next week (July 26), be ready to tell us your idea for your blog theme for the fall semester. You will make a new blog for that in September with a new URL. If you are not sure of your blog theme, don't worry. You can still change it before September. Just try to have an idea. The first Fall class will be September 20.

If we have time, we will finish the Thesaurus Activity we started last week. Please bring your paper.

Sentence Combining
Writing principle - two short sentences should be combined into a longer one when possible.

Examples:
I like music. I don't like dancing. => I like music, but I don't like dancing.
I don't have any money. I can't buy a car. => I don't have any money, so I can't buy a car.
Rome is the largest city in Italy. It is the capital of Italy.
  => Rome, the largest city in Italy, is the capital.
  => Rome is the capital of Italy and its largest city.
  => The capital and largest city in Italy is Rome.

The baseball team celebrated. They won the championship. =>
